# Tutorial: creating a template

This tutorial shows you how to create a **template** to display a **record** for an artwork that shows you the **title**, the **materials** and the record **identifiers** for the work.

CIIM's templates are a powerful but complex system that allows you to format data from your object records, and quickly list structured data such as identifiers.
